Description

Irregularly dented and vigorously shaped, this guinomi made of Tanba ware shows the lively effect of wood firing: melted natural ash glaze in olive green, pale ash beads and strong reddish brown cover the rough, pitted surface. It thus embodies the rough, irregular textures for which Tanba ware is known.

This diversity of expression within a single pottery tradition makes Tanba ware especially fascinating for collectors: no firing is like another, and each piece tells its own story, born in fire.

This guinomi comes from Onishi Masafumi and is delivered in a wooden box signed by the master potter. As a handcrafted unique work, it is a stylish companion for enjoying sake and a fine collector's piece.
