Description

This exquisite tea bowl, handcrafted by Kitagama Kasen, is an outstanding example of noble Akazu ware. The fine glaze in warm earth tones harmonizes perfectly with the artful maple leaf motif, applied in luminous red and gold. Alongside it, speckled grey-brown and gold clouds of cherry blossoms drift around the bowl: together they form the unkin motif (雲錦), which unites cherry blossoms and maple leaves, spring and autumn, in a single image – which is also how the box lid names the bowl, 雲錦茶碗. The maple leaf, a symbol of the Japanese autumn, and the cherry blossom as an emblem of spring lend the bowl a special, seasonal meaning and make it an exceptional piece for any tea gathering.

Akazu ware is known for its refined glazing technique and its subtle elegance, and this bowl reflects the rich tradition and masterful skill of Japanese ceramic art. Delivered in a signed wooden box that underscores the authenticity and value of the piece, this tea bowl is not only a functional vessel but also a valuable collector's item.

Whether for the tea ceremony or as a special gift – this tea bowl by Kitagama Kasen brings tradition and timeless beauty into your home. It is a unique piece of Japanese craftsmanship that possesses both aesthetic and cultural value and makes every moment of the tea ceremony a pleasure.
