Description
This atmospheric kakemono from the Meiji period depicts a tranquil mountain landscape in which a pagoda lies hidden among trees. The soft, flowing brushstrokes lend the scene a gentle and peaceful atmosphere. The expansive space and subtle color palette give the image a soothing depth, while a single bird flying across the landscape brings the picture to life.
The artwork is painted on fine paper and features a jikusaki made of wood, which underscores the traditional style of the piece. The delicate calligraphy in the upper part of the image adds a poetic dimension to the work and rounds off the composition harmoniously.
This kakemono is a classic example of the connection to nature found in Japanese art and is excellently suited for collectors and lovers of Japanese landscape painting. It brings a quiet elegance and serenity into any room.
