Description

Two round eggplants lie at the lower edge of the painting, their characteristic shape and velvety surface carefully rendered with fine brushstrokes. Above them, a slender branch with delicate red blossoms sweeps upward, standing in luminous contrast to the dark fruits. The composition remains deliberately sparse and calm, so that the simple forms and the gentle movement of the branch create a quiet, poetic harmony.

The work bears the signature and seal of Tanaka Hakuin. Painted on silk, it unfolds a restrained color palette with fine gradations of gray in the eggplants and warm shades of red in the blossoms. The light brushstrokes lend the fruits a natural texture and give the blossoms a delicate, almost transparent grace.

The Jikusaki made of bone frame the piece in a classic, refined manner. This hand-painted unique work comes with a wooden box signed by the artist and brings a simple, natural elegance into any room, making it especially suited to lovers of reduced Japanese depictions of nature who value fine brushwork and a calm, poetic presence.
