Description

This atmospheric kakemono from the Showa period draws the viewer into a quiet river landscape, radiant in the gentle light of the full moon. Two figures in a boat glide leisurely across the water, while mountains and trees are suggested in the background in fine shadings of ink and color. The composition combines clarity and expansiveness with subtle detail work, creating a peaceful, almost meditative mood.

The work is executed on fine silk and bears the seal of Naoun. The masterful balance of light and dark, as well as the subtly applied color accents in the figures, lend the image a vivid depth. The jikusaki made of bone complement the traditional appearance and underscore the art-historical value of the piece.

This kakemono unites the harmony of nature depiction and human presence typical of traditional Japanese art. It is a work that appeals to both collectors and lovers of classical Japanese painting alike, bringing a calm, contemplative atmosphere to any room through its poetic expressiveness.
