Description

In two complementary hanging scrolls, this set shows Fuji-san once in summer clarity and once in autumn mood, surrounded by gentle hills, small houses, and delicately blossoming trees. The reduced color palette, kept in muted beige tones, lends the mountain itself an air of quiet calm.

The two hanging scrolls were created in the Meiji period as hand paintings on paper, with the jikusaki made of wood in each case. Together they are delivered in a specially signed wooden box that securely keeps the matching set.

Fuji-san is considered the most important landmark of Japan and is traditionally depicted in painting at different times of the year to emphasize its eternal, unchanging presence. This evocative set is excellently suited for collectors who are enthusiastic about the diverse forms of appearance of this famous mountain in Japanese art.
