Description

Gentle hills and a calmly flowing stream determine the composition of this kakemono, while blossoming cherry trees and gnarled pines frame the scenery at the edge of the image. The restrained color palette in beige and brown tones creates a quiet, meditative atmosphere, as is typical for nocturnal landscapes.

The hanging scroll was created in the Shôwa period, hand-painted on silk, the jikusaki is made of bone. The work is delivered in a specially matching wooden box that keeps it safely stored.

Landscape paintings in moonlight are among the classic themes of Japanese art and stand for tranquility, contemplation, and the close connection between man and nature. This atmospheric kakemono is particularly suited for lovers of traditional landscape depictions who appreciate a calm, poetic atmosphere in their home.
