Description

Gently curving mountains rise above a calmly flowing river, its banks lined with dense shrubbery painted in fine dots – a classic sumi-e landscape of great tranquility. The mountains are rendered in soft, blending gray tones, while the river runs through the composition as a bright band formed by deliberately left blank spaces.

Please note that the mounting of this kakemono shows several age-related defects, which lend the piece an authentic patina but should be taken into consideration when making your purchase decision.

Such tranquil river landscapes have long been regarded in Japanese aesthetics as a symbol of inner peace and are well suited to contemplative living spaces.
