Description
Perched on a moss-covered rock sits a red-feathered parrot, framed by delicately pink-blossoming branches - a motif full of color and decorative effect, as it was prized in Japanese bird painting of the 20th century. The composition combines naturalistic detail in the plumage with an almost abstract, washed rendering of the rock.
The hanging scroll bears the signature and seal of Kaura Moriyama and is delivered including the signed wooden box, which serves as proof of authenticity. It should be noted that the mounting shows a tear in the upper area; however, the hanging and display of the Kakemono are not affected by this, so the work can still be shown without difficulty.
Painted on silk and fitted with a roller knob made of bone, this Kakemono is among those pieces whose appeal lies precisely in the interplay of colorful exuberance and the patina of an eventful history. A lively motif for lovers of traditional Japanese hanging scroll art.
