Description

A purple, star-shaped open blossom with finely red-fringed stamens climbs upward on this shikishi between dark-washed leaves and a still-closed bud. The slender, curved branch lends the composition a natural, almost dance-like movement.

The restrained palette of purple, green, and gray tones brings the focus to the fore on the form and growth of the plant – an approach typical of Japanese flower painting of the Shôwa period (1926–1989). On the firm, square mounting board, the motif unfolds its quiet, poetic effect.

Please note: Only the shikishi is included in delivery. The frame visible in the photos serves illustrative purposes only and can be ordered separately from us.
