Description

A colorful rooster stands proudly in front of a simple straw hut, while a smaller hen pecks nearby. In the background, a tree rises with numerous delicate white plum blossoms announcing the beginning of spring. The composition radiates a calm, fresh morning atmosphere in which the vivid colors of the rooster form a warm contrast to the plain hut and the delicate blossoms.

The work bears the signature and seal of Imai Keiki. Painted on silk, it unfolds a balanced color palette with soft gray and beige tones for the hut as well as strong red, blue, and gold tones for the rooster. The fine brushstrokes make the texture of the straw, the feathers of the rooster, and the delicate plum blossoms appear especially vivid.

The jikusaki made of bone frame the piece in a classic and elegant manner. It comes with a signed wooden box. This hand-painted unique work brings a fresh, spring-like atmosphere of Japanese nature and animal depiction into the room and is especially suited for those who value atmospheric detail and a warm, poetic appeal.
