Description

This delicate kakemono from the Showa period shows a small redstart (Japanese: jōbitaki) perched on a blossoming plum branch. The delicate blossoms, the fresh buds, the lively bird – a typical winter visitor – and the red senryō berries at the lower edge capture the mood of late winter, when in Japanese culture the plum blossom heralds the approaching new beginning. The fine details and the gentle coloring give the work a natural grace.

The artwork was painted on paper and carries a jikusaki made of wood, corresponding to the traditional style of the kakemono. The fine brushwork reflects the high artistry of Japanese painting, while the harmony between the bird, the tree, and the blossoms creates a peaceful and fresh atmosphere.

This piece is ideal for lovers of Japanese nature painting and is excellently suited to bring a bright and positive mood into your home or your collection.
