Description

A split-open pomegranate, its seeds pushing glistening from the burst peel, lies next to a small blue box in front of a leafy branch – an unusual combination of natural motif and everyday object.

The coloring of the pomegranate, a rich orange-red with yellowish shadings, stands in appealing contrast to the cool blue of the box beside it, while the branch with its narrow leaves naturally frames the composition.

In East Asian symbolism, the pomegranate is regarded as a sign of fertility and numerous offspring, since its many visible seeds stand precisely for that. The connection of fruit and box lends this picture a quiet narrative note and makes it an original piece of wall decor charged with symbolism.
