Description

A restrained, natural expression characterizes this chawan by Hagi ware potter Yoshihito Miyamoto. The matte, warm beige coloring is accompanied by a subtly flowing, milky-white glaze at the rim, which underscores the organic character of the bowl. Visible crackle structures run through the surface and give the piece a palpable liveliness, as is characteristic of the Hagi tradition.

The form appears slightly irregular and softly modeled, so that the vessel sits comfortably in the hand and unfolds a calm, meditative presence. The interplay of subtle sheen, natural texture, and quiet restraint makes this chawan an authentic representative of classical Hagi aesthetics.

The bowl is delivered with a signed wooden box confirming its origin and authorship, rounding off the piece both for the tea ceremony and for a collection of discerning ceramics.
