Description

In soft shades of gray, Fuji-San rises above a still expanse of water, while a blossoming plum branch in the foreground sets delicate pink accents. The mountains are rendered in soft, flowing ink washes, creating an almost misty, atmospheric depth that makes the iconic mountain appear both monumental and delicate at the same time. Small rock formations and pines along the lower edge of the composition provide additional spatial grounding.

The kakemono, painted on paper, bears the signature and seal of the artist Tsuruzawa Sensen and was created in the Shôwa period. The wooden jikusaki completes the careful mounting, and the work is delivered including a wooden box. Motifs of Fuji-San combined with blossoming branches take up the theme of spring while also representing the permanence of the sacred mountain amid the transience of the seasons.

This calm, harmoniously composed depiction appeals to collectors who wish to combine classical landscape painting with a fine, poetic observation of nature, and is excellently suited as a stylish eye-catcher in living or working spaces.
