Kakemono Kissako – Enjoy Your Tea

With enchanting simplicity, this Japanese kakemono invites one to consciously experience the moment of enjoying tea. It shows, in free, flowing brushstrokes, a stylized tea bowl accompanied by the classic Zen expression "Kissako" ("喫茶去"), which literally means: "Just drink your tea" – a well-known saying deeply rooted in Zen philosophy that reminds us to consciously perceive everyday life.

The work comes from Iwasaki Hajin, an artist and Zen priest of the Zenrin temple school, who learned his craft under the renowned master Kobayashi Kokei. Painted on fine paper and complemented by a jikusaki made of wood, the image combines meditative calm with a lively dynamism at the same time. The minimalist style leaves room for personal reflection and invites one to find one's own path to inner serenity.

Ideal for tea ceremonies or spaces dedicated to meditation and mindfulness, this kakemono offers not only aesthetic pleasure but also a daily impulse to consciously and appreciatively experience the present moment. A valuable piece of Japanese Zen culture that celebrates the simplicity of life and combines spiritual depth with artistic expressiveness.
