Description
This subtle Japanese hanging scroll from the Showa period unites observation of nature with artistic elegance. The masterful handwork depicts a tranquil landscape in which a graceful willow branch lowers its twigs over three lively crayfish. The subtle coloring on silk captures the interplay of light and shadow, lending the motif a gentle, almost poetic atmosphere.
The delicate details, from the damp grass to the accentuated pincers of the crayfish, illustrate the harmonious connection between movement and stillness – a classic motif of Japanese art that stands for impermanence and the beauty of the moment.
The hanging scroll is finished with a jikusaki made of bone and convinces with its harmonious mounting in soft, natural tones. This unique work is suited both for collectors and for lovers of traditional Japanese aesthetics who appreciate the calm beauty and craftsmanly perfection of a genuine Nihonga painting.
